THE TEAM

Captain’s Jimmie Dooms and Jason Rieger started fishing together long before they decided to become Professional Redfish Tournament partners in 2005.  They both have been on the water chasing Speckled Trout and Redfish since they were both in elementary school in Portland, TX, where they grew up together and attended the same high school as well. 


They both carry a vast knowledge of the water in and around the Corpus Christi area. With Jason being a fishing guide in the Aransas and Redfish Bay areas with frequent trips into the Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays and Jimmie’s fishing guide business being out of the Laguna Madre, Baffin Bay, and Land Cut areas with the same frequented trips into Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays, they decided to put their skills together and team up for a shot at being a Redfish Champion. 

In the summer of 2004, Jason and Jimmie made the decision to team up and head off into the tournament world of Redfish.  Their initial goals were to just be consistent and let the scales fall where they may.  Jason and Jimmie set out to find as many sponsors as they could.  Being new to the scene would mean a very tough road ahead to obtain those much needed sponsors.  After politely being told “No thanks” by many companies, Jason and Jimmie were able to get a few companies to give them chance when no one else would.  Castaway Graphite Rods, Bass Assassin Lures, Mirr-O-Lure, and Power Pro were the only sponsors to commit to their team.  Jason and Jimmie vowed to do their very best and be committed to these companies for years to come.

 

With their new sponsors in tow, Jason and Jimmie headed off to their first ever tournament in Matagorda, TX to fish the International Fishing Association event.  With treacherous weather conditions and winds that gusted to over 60 mph, Jason and Jimmie took an amazing 4th place finish out of over 80 boats that were entered.  Immediately gaining respect from many of the veterans on the tour with their character and demeanor amongst the other competitors and fans that came out to watch the weight in.

Since that cold, rainy, and windy day in March of 2005, Jason and Jimmie have made themselves as one of the staples in the top 10 in all Professional Redfish Series tournaments.  They went on to be the 2005 Texas Redfish Series Champions in their inaugural season in 2005.  They are one of, if not the most, consistent team on the circuit today.  They seem to always find their way to the stage with two fish no matter where they go.  You can bet by the seasons end they will be a staple in the top five for “Team of the Year” honors as well. 

Since they started, Jason and Jimmie have accumulated many honors, trophies, checks, and respect throughout the industry.  They have grown from just those first few sponsors to the many sponsors that are listed on their web site today.  They have continued to pride themselves as being loyal to their sponsors and doing everything that they can to help promote their sponsors as their sponsors help and promote their teams as well. 

 

BIO - CAPT JIMMIE DOOMS

 
Captain Jimmie Dooms Captain Jimmie was born and raised in South Texas and has been on the water fishing since his father took him when he was 4 years old. Jimmie has had a love for fishing since that day. He has been fishing in the Baffin Bay, Laguna Madre, and Land Cut for over 15 years and has been fishing all of his other territories for over 12 years.

BIO - CAPT JASON RIEGER

 
Captain Jason Rieger. Has been fishing the Corpus Christi, Rockport, and Aransas Pass area for close to 25 years. He has been a professional guide for 14 years in the same area.

Jimmie and Jason have fished the Pro Redfish circuit together for 5 years. They travel the entire Texas coast and parts of Louisiana for the multiple circuits they fish. Jason feels it has been quite the experience. They have won the Texas Redfish Series Championship, and have numerous top ten places in their resume. They have been very consistent throughout their career, and hope for continued success.
